Launch tour for Allan Ganley Legacy album June Time
It was a great and unexpected loss to the music world last year when drummer, Allan Ganley, sadly passed away. Allan played for many of the great jazz artists such as; Stan Getz, Jim Hall, Peggy Lee, Dizzy Gillespie, George Shearing, Stephane Grappelli, John Dankworth, Cleo Laine, Nelson Riddle, Henry Mancini, Tubby Hayes, Ronnie Scott and many more.
He was also a fantastic arranger and it is a fantastic tribute that an album of his great music has been recorded this year. Allan’s all star group was often described the ‘Brigadoon Big band’ , It doesn’t get together often but man when it does …. The new album entitled June Time, after a chart that Allan wrote for his wife June, is being launched on 14th June at the Stables in Wavendon. The band (pictured above) plays host to some of Europe’s finest jazz musicians including John Horler, Mark Nightingale, Jimmy Hastings, Allan Barnes and Tony fisher.
